What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. We also use localStorage — a browser storage mechanism similar to cookies but not transmitted with requests — for autosaving your designs and storing your license key locally.

localStorage (not cookies)
The editor uses your browser's localStorage for the following purposes — this data never leaves your device:
mycanvas_project_v1— your current design, autosaved every 1.5 seconds.mycanvas_project_v1_name— the name of your current design.mc_license_key— your supporter license key. Only present if you have activated a license.mc_license_valid,mc_license_ts— cached validation state and timestamp for your license key.mc_instance_id— the unique instance ID assigned by Polar when you activated your license on this device.mc_license_key_id— the numeric Polar key ID, used for device management.mc_device_id— a randomly generated 8-character identifier created on first use, used as part of the device name when activating a license. Not linked to any personal identity.mc_welcome_suppressed— remembers if you have dismissed the welcome screen.
You can clear all localStorage data via your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → mycanvasdesign.com → Clear All), or by using File → New Canvas in the editor.
Cookie consent
Under UK PECR, strictly necessary cookies (Cloudflare security and bot-protection cookies) do not require consent.
Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) are set by Google Analytics to help us understand how the site is used. By continuing to use MyCanvasDesign you consent to these analytics cookies being set. You can opt out at any time by:
- Blocking cookies in your browser settings, or
- Installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any cookies for profiling or remarketing.
How to manage cookies
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking cookies does not affect the core editor — it works entirely without cookies.
